Our orchard:
growing with the future in mind
We started growing Conference pears in 2008. Since then, our orchard has expanded to 16 hectares, where we grow Conference pears (8.5 hectares) and Beurré Alexander Lucas pears (7.5 hectares). The soil consists of river clay over peat, making it particularly well suited to pear cultivation.
We aim to grow our pears in the most environmentally responsible way possible, with a strong focus on biodiversity and sustainability. This means using resources such as water and crop protection products as efficiently as possible.
Wherever possible, we use biological pest control to manage various pests and diseases. This enables us to protect our crops while minimising the use of crop protection products.
We also take various ecological measures to make our orchard more attractive to beneficial organisms that help us control pests naturally. For example, we plant strips of wildflowers and install insect hotels. These measures promote biodiversity and contribute to a healthy, natural balance within our orchard. In this way, we are not only growing for today, but also for the future!
